University of Pune good for raising flow of students to India: UK minister

The University of Pune (UoP) is a good place to start with the United Kingdom (UK) government's focus on increasing the flow of students from Britain to India, said David Willetts, UK minister for universities and science, on Tuesday.
Willetts, who was in the city as part of his ongoing India tour, made an unscheduled visit to the UoP on Tuesday, following an invitation by the university's vice-chancellor (V-C) Raghunath Shevgaonkar. The UoP V-C had called on Willetts on Monday evening.

Willetts told reporters that 40,000 students from India go to Britain annually to study at different levels. Against this, only 500 students from the UK come to India to study. "The UoP has 10 of these British students as of now," he said.
