The fate of a $858 billion tax compromise negotiated between U.S. President Barack Obama and Republicans is in the hands of the House, after the Senate approved the measure 81-to-19. House leaders were set to take up the measure immediately. The bill would extend Bush-era tax cuts for all incomes for two years, continue jobless benefits for the long-term unemployed for 13 months and cut payroll taxes for one year. Full story here
