China's rate increase leaves Asian-Pacific markets mixed

Asian-Pacific markets closed mixed Monday as traders considered the effect of China's interest-rate increase. Japan's Nikkei 225 climbed 0.8%, China's Shanghai Composite dropped 1.9% and Taiwan's Taiex gained 0.4%. South Korea's Kospi Composite and Thai shares fell 0.4%. Singapore's Straits Times Index advanced 0.5%, while India's Sensex slipped 0.2%. Markets in Australia, Hong Kong, New Zealand and the Philippines were closed for holidays.Full story here
