Moody's downgrades Ireland's credit rating 5 steps to Baa1

Moody's Investors Service cut Ireland's credit rating from Aa2 to Baa1 and warned that further downgrades could follow. "Ireland's sovereign creditworthiness has suffered from the repeated crystallization of bank-related contingent liabilities on the government's balance sheet," said Dietmar Hornung, the rating agency's vice president and senior credit officer.
