The Pentagon and the U.S. State Department ignored or didn't know about an elaborate fraud in connection with a nearly $2 billion contract to buy fuel from Russia for an Air Force base in Kyrgyzstan, congressional investigators said. The Defense Logistics Agency relied on falsified end-user certificates to violate Russian fuel-export regulations and buy Russian fuel from a secretive business group registered in Gibraltar, a report by the House Subcommittee on National Security and Foreign Affairs found.Full story here
