The U.S. Senate is ready to vote on an $858 billion tax package that would keep Bush-era tax cuts in place for all income levels, extend unemployment benefits and cut Social Security payroll taxes, said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev. Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., predicted passage by a "very substantial margin." House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md., said no final decision has been made on how to organize voting in the House.
