Asian-Pacific markets slide, yanked down by Chinese stocks

Chinese shares declined Monday as traders worried about decreased growth in manufacturing, dragging down other Asian-Pacific markets. China's Shanghai Composite plummeted 2.9%, Japan's Nikkei 225 dropped 1.5% and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 lost 1.9%. South Korea's Kospi Composite plunged 2.6%, Taiwan's Taiex fell 1% and Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index slid 2.1%. New Zealand's NZX 50 gave up 0.7%, while Philippine shares were down 0.5%. In afternoon trading, Singapore's Straits Times Index and Thailand's SET declined 1.8%, Indonesian shares dropped 2.8% and India's Sensex lost 1.7%. Full story here
