Shares were mixed Tuesday across Asia-Pacific, with trading light because of holidays. Anticipated monetary tightening to fight inflation dampened the enthusiasm of Chinese investors. Japan's Nikkei 225 declined 0.6%, South Korea's Kospi Composite gained 0.6% and China's Shanghai Composite lost 1.7%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index fell 0.9%, Taiwan's Taiex slipped 0.2% and Singapore's Straits Times Index added 0.8%. Markets in Australia and New Zealand were closed for a holiday. Full story here
