Asian-Pacific shares gain as tension cools on Korean peninsula

Traders in Asia-Pacific got back their appetite for risk Tuesday after seeing that South Korea's live-fire exercises failed to trigger a military response from North Korea. Japan's Nikkei 225 climbed 1.5%, while South Korea's Kospi Composite and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.8%. China's Shanghai Composite added 1.8%, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index gained 1.6% and New Zealand's NZX 50 went up 0.6%. Taiwan's Taiex tacked on 0.7%, Singapore's Straits Times Index inched up 0.2% and India's Sensex advanced 0.9%. Full story here
