Regulators face daunting rule-writing tasks

Congress told the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission to write regulations for the financial industry and then, in some instances, gave them little time to do it. The CFTC, for example, has the authority to oversee an entire class of products that were previously unregulated. Additionally, the regulators have been striving to enhance transparency of the rule-making process. So far, industry insiders appear pleased with the agencies' progress. Full story here
