Risk-averse traders leave Asian-Pacific markets mixed

Stock markets were mixed Thursday in Asia-Pacific, as commodities weakened and investors avoided risk. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 and New Zealand's NZX 50 edged up 0.2%, while Taiwan's Taiex gained 0.8%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index slid 0.1%, China's Shanghai Composite lost 0.2% and Philippine shares dropped 1.2%. In afternoon trading, Singapore's Straits Times Index slipped 0.1%, Malaysia's KLCI fell 0.2%, Indonesian shares declined 0.3% and India's Sensex advanced 0.2%.
