Asian-Pacific markets see thin trading and post modest gains

Disappointing Japanese export data cooled traders' enthusiasm Wednesday as shares cautiously edged higher on most Asian-Pacific markets. Japan's Nikkei 225 eased down 0.2%, China's Shanghai Composite gave up 0.9% and Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index climbed 0.2%. Australia's S&P/ASX 200, South Korea's Kospi Composite and New Zealand's NZX 50 edged up 0.1%. Taiwan's Taiex rose 0.4%, while India's Sensex slid 0.2% and Singapore's Straits Times Index moved up 0.3% in afternoon trading. Full story here
